Here comes the Gemini New Moon… Venus and Mercury have conjuncted and manifested the Hermaphrodite: Love, unification, leaving duality behind and emerging in oneness are the primary themes of this season. The Gate is open.… More
What is Astrology and How Does it Work ?
We tend to think with cause and effect. We believe anything that is outside the cause and effect paradigm is supersitition, therefore nonesense. Yes, ninety percent of the “spiritual stuff” on the Internet is hocus pocus, a fantastic movie or at best superstition. This also bothers me as much as it bothers you. Today we have the nption that one needs to dim the rational mind, silence the skeptic and ignore the crictical thinker when one enters the blurred, mystified and incensed realm of Astrology.
I guess it is quite the contrary.
In our art we need the skeptic more than any other. We have to question, compare, observe, measure and make a lot of experiments. Still, Astrology does not mean to find solid facts but meaning, feeling and most importantly: Synchronicity.
“As Above, So Below”.
Astrology works on the assumption that our Earthly life is not seperate from the life on the wider Universe. To make things easier, let us first work on the hypothesis that our life is not seperate than the life on our Solar System only. Earth’s rotation around the Sun creates the four seasons. Moon’s rotation around the Earth creates tides of the Ocean. We can observe and measure these phenomena and thinking in terms of cause and effect absolutely explains the seasons and the tides because we can see the cause and we can observe the effects.
What does Venus’ rotation around the Sun, observed from Earth mean for us ? We cannot see any recorable effects on Venus on our physical world or human behaviour. We cannot record any difference in anything when Venus is the Morning Star or when Venus is the Evening Start. She seems to have no effect on us. Our current technology or capacity to observe nature does not see any effects of Venus’ rotation.
Here the skeptic steps in and asks: “Why di the Akkadian Kings waited until Venus was the Morning Star to begin their warfare ? Why did they prayed the the Morning Star Venus before they began their battles ?
There are two possible answers to this:
- We percieve this behaviour as some magical act of ancient peoples who transferred magical powers to certain objects or symbols because they were in an earlier and less developed phase of civilization.
- They knew better than us. So we need to study the human psyche, human history, mythology and try to understand them.
Astrology starts when we agree that Ancient Mesopotamians knew better. This was a part of their science, their relationship with and understanding of nature. For us it is quite impossibble to think like Cleopatra’s Astrologer, yet we can try.
Our modern science is based on finding solid facts about Nature. Water boilds at 100 Celcius. Only by knowing and collecting information can we control her. We have developed methods of observation, experiment and measurement to collect such information. Yet, in order to be able to understand Astrology we need to step ourside of the cause and effect paradigm. This does not mean negating or ignoring science or scientific thinking. This is only taking a step further. Growth is always essential.
20. Thence come the maidens mighty in wisdom,
Three from the dwelling down ‘neath the tree;
Urth is one named, Verthandi the next,–
On the wood they scored-
and Skuld the third.
Laws they made there, and life allotted
To the sons of men, and set their fates.
In Astrology, the Nodes of the Moon mark the Past, Present and Future. The theory is that the Soul is on a Journey. During this Journey, the soul travels from one place to another. We all come from somewhere and are heading towards somewhere. Time keeps flowing even as you are reading this. It never ceases.
Past, Present and Future
In many world mythologies we come across Fates: Three female figures who have such power that even Gods cannot bargain with them. In Plato’s cosmology we again come across them. Fates weave the thread of life, water the Tree of Life, they stand at the junctures, they are the purveyors of Life and what may befall on us mortals. In Norse mythology they are the Norns: Urd, Verdandi and Skuld: Past, Present and Future.
The Past is symbolized by the South Node, the Dragon’s Tail. . The South Node is where we unmake what we already have in order to be able to weave the Future (North Node). We are already quite adept and experienced in the sign/house themes where the South Node rests. South Node shows us what we have brought with us from the Past. In this life we do not create these things any longer even though we may feel a strong urge to do so.We no longer improve them but use them as background and material for creating the future. We unmake the fabric in the South Node and release the wool so that we can use this wool in the Present in order to create the Future.
The sign in between the South Node and the North Node shows the Present. We find this sign by going 90 degrees counterclockwise from the South Node. We are coming from somewhere (South), we are here now and we are going towards somewhere (North). Present is the curicial place because this is what we are creating. We weave our life at the Present with the materials we release and gather from the South Node.
The sign and house of the Present shows us what we are currently doing in this life. What can be a greater gift ?
The present is where we can make concious choices. If there are any planets, asteroids or other significant celestial bodies in this place, they should also be taken into consideration.
North Node is where the soul is headed towards. Our actions eventually take us there. The Future is always young and new. We keep weaving, creating our future in the Present. North Node shows what we are making with the wool we had gathered from the South Node and are currently weaving in the Present. Therefore the Present is more important than the Past or the Future. We create in the Present thus Past and Future falll before us as “Fate”, that which we cannot alter.
When a planet makes a sqaure to the Nodes, we call it “on the bending” planet and it becomes particularly important in our journey of life.
Bending planets are either North bendig or South bending. The themes carried in with the bending planet can sometimes be very strongly seen in one’s life.

What gives meaning to the eternal cycle of Life and Death ? Our time between emerging from the darkness of the womb and returning back to the dark and deep delves of Hades is what we can ever have. Life, death and rebirth. The Fates have written so.
I do believe in free will. We are free to choose our actions in the given setting, the “given” setting which is partially constructed by our past actions and things we cannot control, a combination of both. We determine what to do with the time and opportunities given to us.
Full Moon in Aries
Today we are super charged with the Full Moon in Aries! Aries is all about life, individuation, crying our unique spirit out to the world. Aries is the firestarter, the bolt thrower, awakener of the Twelve Signs. We are all familiar with the child-like (not childish) enthesuasism of those born under the sign of the Ram.
Aries is a fire sign. Think about Fire. Fire can be detrimental, it can burn whatever it touches and turns Life into grey ash. Yet Fire is vital. Heat in the body, fire to cook, to heat our homesteads and most importantly: Light. In the right way, Fire can bring wonders, in the wrong way it can cause disasters. Thankfully we have Saturn, Lord of Time, controlling, limiting and setting boundaries with Neccessity.
This time the full moon is very powerful. Sun and Moon, facing each other, are forming a T-Square with Pluton, the Lord of the Underworld. Do not let your mind wander into details, let me keep them in the background for all of us. This Full Moon brings in the enegry of action and rebirth. Yet, the best thing about it is that we are one hundered percent accountable for it! All the strings are held by Saturn, the Judge, Guardian of the Rainbow Bridge. Neither the deep pulling energies of Pluton or the fireworks of Aries are out of measure. We are where we are meant to be.
Aries is all about spreading the seeds. As the Moon in Aries makes contact with Pluton, we will be feeling the seeds of Hades, seeds of life inside us tonight.
Take responsiblity of your actions. With responsibility comes the power within. This Full Moon will awaken many of us. Pluton has been working on some of us for the last 2-3 years. Those who have the Cross of Matter or personal planets, oiko despotes or the chart ruler around 20 degrees of Capricorn understand what I mean. These days the Lord of the Underworld is making this last touch on you, if you are one of those people with 20 degrees of cardinal signs are emphasized on their chart. Use your power wisely. Take responsibility and stay accountable. Never leave even one step away from the Virtues. Whenever we move away from the right path, Saturn is here to put us back to the right path. Honesty will guide us through the darkness of this night with the silvery rays of the Moon falling down on us with a thousand blessings.
Herakles is the revered hero of the ancient world. He was worshipped as the divine protector of humankind. He is the one who went through the twelve initiations and reached at the peaks of Olympus where he was wedded Hera’a daughter and reached apotheosis.
In your chart the Asteroid Herakles may show you where you are protected. I believe this asteroid is very important for those who are on a spiritual path.
Herakles is the son of Zeus, born of a mortal woman. Therefore Hera curses him and he has to go through his labours. This is the human condition. We are mortal beings with a spark of divinity inside us. Only through the hardships of life can we grow and become who we are meant to be. Herakles shows us the way. Jason shows us the wrong way…
Yet, Jason and Herakles meet at the Golden Fleece Island in the Black Sea. This island is still an archeological and touristic site in northern Turkey.
Herakles joins the Argonauts at the last minute and he leaves them at some point and then joins again… His “on and off” stance shows us the lack of Discipline in the whole venture of the Argonauts. Then, at the end it is the same lack of discipline and inconsistency which brings the tragic end to Jason’s story.
Jason is such a strange character. He is mentored by Chiron, therefore this asteroid should always be interpreted in relation to Chiron.
Jason does reach his goal of acquiring and bringing the Golden Fleece. For this he is named a hero: risking his life for the quest. Yet his story takes a tragic turn when he forgets that he had to make contract with the Goddess, his marriage with Medea. When he turns away from this divine contract and goes back to his society’s rules and customs, his conditioning, all that he achieved is destroyed.
There is a split in his character. His training with Chiron enables him to transcend the human condition, take the Journey, become a hero and even take a step towards apotheosis by marrying Medea. Yet when he comes back and blends in with his society, the rules and customs in his society make him “fall” and he finds himself in a situation of misery.
Perhaps the Asteroid Jason is here to remind us to watch over our conditioning, “first default” and stay in discipline, ever watchful of our thoughts and actions. There is a reason we are all being tutored by Chiron: to transcend the earthly life and social conditioning.
"Now, they the Argonauts sailing the through sea of Marmara suddenly saw Glaukos , the sage spokesman of the sea-god Nereus, emerge from the salt-depths."
Along with Jason and Herakles, Glaukos is another mortal who achieves immorality. He was only a fisherman but transformed into a sea-god and became the protector of fishermen. He is described as a merman.
Asteroid Glaukos can show an extraordinary interest in the sea or maritime and an affinity with divination as well. If he is conjunct Venus or the Seventh House ruler he may show a partner or lover who are related to the sea, fishing or sailing. He brings the touch of the merman wherever he shows himself.
Asteroid Medea (212)
Robert Graves discusses the similarities between Medea and Cerridwen. In my copy of the Odyssey, the translator Azra Erhat refers to Circe as the goddess. In the introduction of this translation, she discusses Circe as the Great Goddess Cybele. Surely there is more to Medea and Circe than the classical literature could assign to.
Medea, in her dark, mysterious form has always attracted me, perhaps because I am also partially from Colchis. Women in the eastern shores of the Black Sea are strong as if the hand of patriarchy never shook them. It might be the tall and emerald green mountains covered in mist, clear springs and rivers or the deep dark, stormy Black Sea. And the age old religious cults which carved their halls inside those mountains. Medea comes from this place.
Pasolini’s movie, with Maria Callas, is a very good source for beginning to understand her.
Medea, the granddaughter of the Sun, is a priestess of Hecate. Hecate is the Anatolian Sun Goddess. She does not recognize the Olympian hierarchy. She is held above and outside the Olympians. It is easy to track how her image has been and is still being corrupted. This summarizes the fall of humanity.
When I was younger, I loved Medea as the woman who takes her revenge from the patriarchy, this is her classical version. Yet further reading brought me very different information and points of view. It is impossible to share them in this article but for further reading we can refer to Karl Kerenyi and Robert Graves.
Why do we look at the asteroid Medea (212) ? The asteroids are subtle. Only the asteroids that are in close relation to a planet (strict orbds 2 degrees, not more!), point or lot should be taken into consideration. Asteroids on the axes are also significant. If the name means something to you, then the asteroid will show its face in your chart. If Medea is important for you, then she will be throwing her dark and deep Maria Callas gaze on you.
Asteroid Medea is publicly visible in the chart of Maria Callas who acted Medea in opera and in film. Many remember her face, wonderful voice and Scorpio eyes when they hear the name Medea. In Callas’ chart, the asteroid Medea is in the middle of the Heavens; at the very peak of her social stance, repetition and career. That is what the MC is all about, what we are known with. For me, at least, she will always be Medea.
Scorpio, 23 October – 22 November
Scorpio is the Eighth Sign of the Zodiac, Wheel of Indestructable Life. When we arrive at the depths of Scorpio, we pass through the Gates of the Underworld.
Union of the opposites in Libra brings us to the alchemical pot of transformation. In this place all emotions are deep and intense. Silence accompanies the footsteps of those who descend.
Transformation is the keyword to Scorpio, it is the eternal cycle of Life, Death and Rebirth. Scorpio is where form dissolves and matter is freed so that it can be utilized to create new forms when Spring comes. Compost to fruit is a very practical example for transformation yet, the most beautiful example for transformation is “catterpillar into butterfly”.
Thus those of us born under the Celestial Scorpion look at the world deeply. When we begin to study a subject we turn our penetrating gaze to it and use all the means to investigate it down to every detail. Therefore professions that need delicate research and a keen, skeptical mind are fit for the Scorpio born individuals.
Scorpio is a very emotional sign. Attachment can lead to obsession and sometimes Scorpio individuals may find it hard to let go of what needs to go. Yet when they are convinced that something or someone does not belong with them anymore, they can shut the door without a second thought and never look back. A Scorpio friend will stand by your side no matter what since they are not afraid of ups and downs of life. Should they decided to go, they may just vanish.
Scorpions survive in the hot and dry desert. Why would a water sign choose to live in the desert ?
Scorpions find water with their intuition. Their bodies are covered with sensors and they can feel water from afar. In the same token, Scorpio men and women can feel other people’s emotions. This may lead them to be empaths or they may want to avoid crowded places especially if their chart is Water Element dominant. Intuition is their super power.
Scorpio is the mystical, secretive and deep sign. Dreamwork, alchemy, symbolism and occult attract them. They find meaning in the secret things and they do keep secrets well.
Scorpio is a fixed sign. What is fixed is the reality of change in the realm of Scorpio. Scorpio’s life is a whirlpool of constant change and transformation. Yet they love things that remain, stand still and do not change. The small town which never changes, which is still the same town since when you were small is the paradise for a Scorpio. Scorpio, remaining in the middle of the whirlpool of transformation and deep stormy emotions, strives for emotional security. This dark and deep soul’s quest for love may involve heartbreaks, betrayal even dramatic scenes. Yet at the end of her painstaking transformation, Scorpio comes to understand that she achieves what she has been looking for only in her inner life, inner sources and her relationship with the Universe. This is how we leave Matter and take our first step in transandence. Now it is time to seek the Divine, for that we need the strong and agile feet of a horse and the intelligable, questioning mind of man: Sagittarius.
When we come to the Ninth Sign of the Zodiac, the Indestructable Wheel of Life, we are already charged with the intensity of Scorpio. Our emotions are about to explode… We are in Sagittarius when the compressed and pressured emotions explode as fireworks in the infinite Heavens.
Sagittarius is the seeker. Dual nature of the Centaur means that Sagittarius has half of his existance in the Earthly realm, running after earthly pleasures and errants and half in the Heavens: gaining wisdom, experiencing spirituality, questioning life, talking philosophy and discovering the world.
Experience is what matters for Sagittarius. Divine inspiration guides the centaur. He may find himself in the most unlikely places in the most inappropriate time. Laughing in high decibels, dreaming without limits and carrying the badge of the big spender are common traits of us all with a Sagittarian nature.
Sagittarius stands between the mundane and the spiritual. Therefore Sagittarius usually finds herslef in careers of teaching or religious/spiritual service. Her ever-growing interest in travelling or world cultures makes her an expert in a foreign culture. Sagittarius falls in love with cultures, different ways of life and languages. Learning and teaching languages as well as spiritual practices can be fit for a Sagittarius individual.
Sagittarius knows how to enjoy life. His jovial nature follows wherever he goes. Sometimes those of us born of Sagittarian nature can be too optimistic and be forgetful of the neccesities of life. Meeting dealines or working for a goal can be quite the challenge for the Sagittarius individual for his sole purpose is to inspire, experience, show others the way, light the path and enjoy it all.
The secret power of your Sagittarian friend is her faith. Sagittarius can always see the big picture and see where things are going… Carrying the spark of hope and kindling her arrow with it, Sagittarius knows how to trust the Universe and keep the faith, even in the most trying of times.
She bends from her window
To look down into women’s hearts
And her eyes search
For her beloved Endymion
In his eternal sleep
Under the caves
Near the sea.
When the Moon is full, our feelings and emotions are intense. We feel vulnerable or the oppressed emotions spring with rage, with an urgency to be expressed. Emotions are at their height and our will is laid before our eyes, manifested. Full Moon is when the energy reaches fullness.
Endymion was a shepherd in ancient Caria in Mount Latmos. On a night of full moon like this one, Thea Selene saw him sleep and watched him for a while. She fell in love with Endymion and descended on Earth in the form of a beautiful woman. She stayed the Night with him and left as the Rose Fingered Dawn reached from beyond the Mountains of Lydia.
Each time the Moon is full, she visited Endymion in his sleep, in his dream or in earthly body; this did not make any difference for the Gods and ancient peoples. Yet, Time, Chronos the Titan, is hardly ever gentle with us humans. As the years passed by, Endymion grew older, leaving his fresh and potent youth behind. This saddened the heart of the Goddess and she put her beloved into eternal sleep. This way she could still visit him and sleep by his side at every full moon without breaking the Cosmic Law, the Cycle of Life and Mortality, fate of us humans.
Perhaps tonight the Goddess will again descend on Earth through the silvershine, ride her Chariot through the rays of the Moonlight and find her Sleeping Endymion in his cave in Mount Latmos, enshadowed by vines of ever growing life.
Full Moon in Scorpio
We have arrived at this year’s full moon in Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of release, death and transformation. The Taurus-Scorpio axis holds the keys to the cycle of Life, Death and Rebirth.
Now we are at the peak of Springtime, all flowers and in bloom, trees are encrowned with young leaves, Life is blessing Earth in a thousand colours. Where there is Life, there is also Death. Full Moons bring in the polarity of the axis they happen in. Sun is in Taurus (Life), it is spring on Earth and the Moon is in Scorpio (Death). The Night wants us to remember that Spring will not last forever and we will have to face autumn, dark and cold someday: when the Sun is in Scorpio.
Now let us study the chart I cast for this Full Moon at for the coordinates of Istanbul:
You can see that Sun and the Moon are facing each other at 17 degrees of Scorpio. For those of us who have personal planets, social planets or axes around the 15-19 degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), this may mark a major time. Full moons always bring in new awareness. Something must have come to fullness in the area of your life where the full moon touches. Becoming aware of it can help you and ease your journey.
During this full moon, Goddess Aphrodite takes a special emphasize. Venus is in phasis, preparing to station: stand still. Then she will begin to move retrograde, diving into the Unconcious: the Sleep of Ishtar. When a planet is slowed down, its energies are felt more deeply on Earth. We are in her season, the Taurus season, ruled by the Goddess. These days Love with capital L reigns over all. Ruler of Scorpio, Mars is also in alignment with Venus, trining her. Venus is in Gemini, so writing, journaling and writing love letters can catch the geist of the season. Keep writing! 🙂
Capricorn, 22 December – 20 January
Capricorn is the cardinal Earth Sign. It is the tenth sign of the Zodiac, the Undestructable Wheel of Life.
Why is it not easy to follow a certain spiritual path ? Because it requires discipline. Capricorn is the master of discipline, time management and the cold and solid reality of the World.
Capricorn, the Sea-Goat can wander and gather resources from the depths of the Ocean and carry them up to the peaks of the Mountain. We need vigor and endurance to climb the Mountain of the Gods, and most importantly strong knees: Capricorn rules knees and joints.
When we arrive at the roots of the Mountain, we are on a quest to ascend. This requires using all of our sources wisely. We cannot spill around our water or food. The mountain path is harsh and unforgiving. We need to plan ahead, be meticulous, strategize and sometimes control the outcomes. The rocky slopes will not let us pass without testing our will and determination. Yet if Capricorn is with us, we can climb our mountain, reach the peaks and our life experience will become an offering the the World.
What is the sum of all our efforts, endavour and work ? It is our career, our reputation in the World. Conciously or unconciously we keep building our career. People know us with what we give to the society, with what we do for others. For Capricorn, what she gives to the society matters the most. Her reputation and title occupy a significant portion for her overall satisfaction in life.
Responsibilities may play a significant role for the Capricornian individual. She may tend to define herself with her responsilibities, drives, ambitions and successes in life. Her professional attitude certainly gives a sense of trust to others. She is self-reliant and you can also rely on her. Capricorn always knows what she is doing.
Sometimes the urge to control life may try and tire them. Keeping everything under control, making sure that all ends are met and all tasks are done perfectly may sometimes be too much for anyone especially when the going gets tough. During those times the Sea-Goat may need to remember her opposite sign: Cancer. Cancer loves to stay at home and rest, nurture and protect. Sometimes it is good to remember to rest, to stay under the blanket and nurture yourself with a warm soup.
When driven with ambition, the Capricornian individual can literally dig passes under mountains, take under big projects and create wonders on earth. Capricornian vigour, endurance and capacity for hard work is legend. On the other hand, when Capricorn is led by wisdom, she can manage others and allocate the resources offered by Earth in the most efficient and effective way. Thus can we reach abundance for everyone. Good management is golden when it allies with Justice of Libra. Only Capricorn knows how to make the best of what we have and lead us to a better grounded and organized way of life.
Aquarius, 20 January – 19 February
Aquarius, the Eleventh Sign of the Zodiac, Wheel of Life Indestructable, is the fixed Air sign. Aquairus is associated with logic, enlightenment, Eureka! and futurism.
There was a time when humans dwelled in darkness. They could see only when the Gods wanted, only when the Sun shone or the Moon was full. Their vision and ability was therefore limited and great was their ignorance. Then Prometheus, the Fore-Seer, saw them. Prometheus always watched for equality and more life, better future and better opportunities for everyone. In his rebellious act, for he was a Titan and the rules of the Gods was not for him, he lit a torch from the sacred Hearth of Olympus and descended down to Earth. In the dark and cold night, when we were only afraid and waiting for the Sun, Prometheus brought us the Fire from which we invented Science, arts and our future. With the Fire stolen from the Gods now we had the conciousness to create our own world and choose our own Future. Rather, we invent our own Future and this is where Aquarius holds the key.
All our Aquarian friends are little Prometheans in their very own right. They show us what we cannot see without them. They look at us from the future, they open our eyes to what we do not want to see, they are the bearers of foresight. Their logic and analytical thinking makes us advance in life.
Aquarius can think what others cannot. His mind is always seeking for a new way, a new invention and a new solution.
Technology belongs to the realm of Aquarius. The Ancient Greek word techne, τέχνη , means craft. Knowledge and techne make us human. As humans we have the potential to accomplish great things but first we must have a vision. Without foresight and the neccesary knowledge and application, we cannot create our own world. Aquarius knows what lies before us, therefore plans and structures the future accordingly.
Taurus is stable, she only wants to preserve what she has. Leo is egoistical, for him only he and his matter. Scorpio is fixated on the past. Aquarius sees the future. Remember the symbol of the Waterbearer, a man pouring water from an amphora ? What Aquarius carries and pours on us is the waters of the cosmos, the Ever-Flow. He takes a handful of the Eternal Truth and offers it to us, just like Prometheus stealing a fire from the Gods and bringing it to humans. Aquarius stands high above the earthly realm (remember Aquarius is an Air sign) and channels the divine, cosmic information down to us.
Thus the ideas circling around the Aquarian individual’s mind may not always be easily understood by others. For he sees the future and he lives in the future, small thinkers may have a problem understanding him. Yet this does not tire the Aquarian. For him what matters is not his person or personal desires. What matters is the group, the people, his friends and the people around him. Sometimes we find that Aquarians forget themselves and forget making themselves a priority in the face their of group’s needs and desires.
In the shadow of the most enlightened sign lies Leo, the source of light. Leo is the individual while Aquarius wants to blend his ego in the group conciousness. Leo knows that he is the source of all love and light as Aquarius sometimes waits to be loved and appreciated by the group. Aquarius loves wandering the icy peaks while Leo sunbathes in the warm and dry savannah. These two qualities, the dance of Ice and Fire, make up the Leo – Aquarius axis; the eternal balance between now and future, ego and the group, creativity and logic.
We owe all our advancements, all our revolutions and all our sciencific and technological abilities to Aquarius. Without Prometheus’ sacrifice, we would still be lingerin in the dark, waiting for the Sun.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
– W. B. Yeats
Pisces, 21 January – 21 February
Pisces is the Twelveth Sign of the Zodiac, the Indestructable Wheel of Life. Here is when we leave behind all that locks us into the heaviness of Matter and lose our individuality in the infinity of Okeanos.
A mist covers the world and the hypnotic sound of lyra accompanies us as we enter the realm of the Fish. Symbol of Pisces is composed of two fish that are forever bound to each other, pulling each other to opposite directions thus keep circulating around the star that binds them.
Pisces is the window that opens to Infinity. The ego dissoloves, sacrifices itself and reaches Immortality. Yet, it can be a painful process to leave the limited and well-defined ego and reach the Self. Thus we find Piscean souls suffering time to time. They may choose escapism, their strong imagination will always beckon them to a dreamworld but only facing the reality and transcending it is the path of Salvation.
Thus those of us born under the ever-cycling Fish are prone to escapism. Our shelves are full of fantasy fiction, we have a special Tolkien shelf, our investments in RPG is legend. We do whatever is neccessary to escape the heaviness of daily life and sometimes our responsibilities are carried away by the current. Thus Pisceans are prone to find themselves being late to work, having their careers delayed or stuggling through other people’s “stuff” for reasons they cannot even identify.
Pisces is the formless, limitless energy that pours from the Universe. Pisceans or people with strong Pisces or Twelth House placements in their charts feel closer to the higher flow. This makes them mediums, seers and visionaries. Yet on the flipside, the urge to escape the reality of the world may bring about addictions such as gaming or social media addiction.
Music, art and nature have a deeper pull for the Piscean soul. Musicians, poets, painters and masters of all forms of art usually carry strong Pisceans elements in their natal charts. Imagination is their strongest asset. “Everything is fantasy” said Jung. In order to be able to create, first we must imagine. Everything created by humans was once imagined. Yet the gist lies in grounding our imaginations, dreams and vision. For that we need plans, timetables and some management. Those born of the Earth element: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn may assist to ground, work on and accomplish Piscean wonders.
Some Pisceans have excellent corporate careers for Pisces’ fluid ego can blend well with the larger body, the corporation. Thus leaving behind their own priorities and personal needs, Pisceans can become very effective servants, easily gliding through the rules and finding creative ways to accomplish their tasks.
Pisceans can be masters of illusion. When combined with art, they can create wonders. Sometimes it can be elusive to communicate with them for even they may be so disconnected from the reality that others may find it hard to define or understand them. Yet this “in between” and unidentifiable quality brings about an immense potential of creativity and divine love.
When all is carried away by the Ocean, when all our pride, prejudice, belongings, relationships, power, dreams and hopes are gone, there is only one reality that still stays: Love. It is only love that makes the Universe move, it is love that births new stars and fills us with wonder in the night. Love is the breath of Eternity.
Be drunk with love, for love is all that exists.
Libra, 23 September – 22 October
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”
Libra is the cardinal Air sign. Air signs are mental, communicative and always focused on humanity.
Libra, the Scales is the Seventh sign of the Zodiac. Sun enters Libra on 23 September, Autumn Equinox when the Day and Night are equal and Time is in perfect Balance. Thus Equality, Balance and Justice are priorities for Libra.
Those of us born under the Celestial Scales sometimes find ourselves walking on eggshells for all that we strive for is keeping the balance in our relationships. We know the secret that the Universe is a relationship: between planets and the Sun, between Day and Night, netween all the stars and galaxies of our infinite, ever-growing and ever-flowing Universe.
When two individual beings come together their union always hangs on a balance. There is always a set of unwritten rules, sometimes contracts or recipcoral agreements in all relationships.
Venus, the Goddess of Love, is the ruler of Libra for she brings us together. There is always a magic element in meetings, almost a secret power. As quoted above, meeting of two people is a lor like meeting of two different essences, almost alchemical. A relationship is always a third entity.
In “the other” we can only find lost nad forgotten parts of ourselves which will lead us to wholeness and a greater truth. Therefore more than often relationships act as a vehicle or catalyzer for our individuation process. Libra rules the process of coming together and more importantly maintaining the relationships and contracts. This is always a very delicate process but Librans are masters of this art. Indeed they are naturally capable of any art or craft that requires style, beauty, delicacy and aesthetics.
Librans keep harmony and balance in their life and relationships. That is how they survive the ups and downs of life yet once their balance is shaken off, it may take time and effort to re-establish it. They can see and consider both ends in a situation. They can change their perspective and see it from both sides. Scales are always looking for the perfect balance, therefore they measure very keenly, with a deep intention to bring justice and respect everyone’s rights.
Their refined manner makes them excellent at human conduct. Famous diplomats and spokespeople have strong Libra placements.
Libra knows how to balance out her relationships, just like a wise Venus Flytrap. The Lady Venus Flytrap attracts her victims to her traps and her precious pollinators to her flowers which she raises high up away away from the nasty traps. So that she will enjoy her meals while getting assistance in immortality by bees and butterflies.
Libra loves making comparisions and thinking in relative terms. They are always looking for the optimal solution. Yet comparision, when applied on one’s self or others, can be quite a non-regenerative habit.
Bearers of the Scales do not want to upset others or never they wish to start a conflict. Therefore sometimes they conciously – or unconciously – choose to stay silent when they need to be speaking. They may find themselves silently accepting situations or signing treaties of peace which may not be sustainable in the lon run. Developig an awareness around being more self-centered can help the Venian souls to navigate easier.
Design, decoration, beauty, architecture, fashion, photography, fine arts… Any are of profession where a inner sense of aesthetics is for the Libra born individuals. Bringing people together, uniting these who need to meet and making peace between broken hearts are natural duties of Libra. In some cases, many Librans are natural matchmakers!
